University courses at Salve Regina University

Salve Regina University Salve Regina College was chartered by the State of Rhode Island in 1934. Founded under the sponsorship of the Sisters of Mercy, Salve Regina was established as an independent institution in the Catholic tradition of education, providing higher education to women and men. In 1947 the university acquired Ochre Court and welcomed its first class of 58 students. By a 1991 amendment to the Charter the name was changed to Salve Regina University.
