The University of the District of Columbia The University of the District of Columbia is the only public institution of higher education in the District of Columbia. Chartered in 1974 from three other institutions of higher learning, this Historically Black College/University maintains an open admissions policy, and is the only urban land-grant institution in the nation.

UDC is located in the global, northwest community of Washington, D.C. We have a rich and successful tradition of higher education that has been in existence for over a century. Our comprehensive university offers a wide array of undergraduate, graduate, and continuing educational opportunities for our diverse student population.
