University courses at Vassar College

Vassar College Founded in 1861, Vassar College is a highly selective, residential, coeducational liberal arts college. Consistently ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the country, Vassar is renowned for pioneering achievements in education, for its long history of curricular innovation, and for the beauty of its campus.

Students may concentrate in a single discipline, an interdepartmental or multidisciplinary program, or they may design an independent major. There is no "core curriculum." Students must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language, successfully complete at least one quantitative course, and, in the first year, successfully complete a writing-intensive course (chosen from about 20 options).
