Wilmington College Delaware Wilmington University is a private, non-sectarian school that offers undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degree programs in a variety of career areas. The University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Wilmington University began as a college with a charter class of 194 students in 1968 and has grown to become a University with a student body of over 11,500 students.

On September 10, 2007 Wilmington College officially became a university after being approved by the Board of Trustees and the Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools. The name change helps to better reflect the emphasis on baccalaureate and higher degree programs that distinguish Wilmington University from other community colleges as well as effectively communicate the full commitment and mission of the University.
