Not only those that are the most prestigious, even more, these scholarships are the most well known, lucrative, and competitive among others.

Undergraduate Scholarships:

Apple Scholars scholarships:

$2,000 in scholarships, plus a MacBook Pro and iPod nano.
Demonstrate innovative use of technology at schoolwork.

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship program:

Open to high school seniors.
$1,500 in scholarships.
6,300 to 6,500 scholarships each year.

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarships:

Open to US high school seniors who have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
250 scholarships each year.
50 National Scholars receiving $20,000 scholarships.
200 Regional Scholars receiving $10,000 scholarships.
Selection based on leadership, character, civic and extracurricular activities, academic excellence, and community service.

Collegiate Inventors Competition:

Also known as the BFGoodrich Collegiate Inventors Program.
For undergraduate and graduate students with new ideas, processes and technological innovations.
A graduate Collegiate Inventors Competition receives $15,000.
An undergraduate Collegiate Inventors Competition receives $10,000.

Davidson Institute for Talent Development:

For students under age 18.
Have completed a significant essay in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Technology, Music, Literature, Philosophy or Outside the Box.
Four $50,000 scholarships, seven $25,000 scholarships, and five $10,000 scholarships, per year.

Elks National Foundation "Most Valuable Student" Competition:

For high school US citizenship seniors.
Two renewable $15,000 scholarships, two renewable $10,000 scholarships, two renewable $5,000 scholarships, and 494 renewable $1,000 scholarships per year.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship:

Support undergraduate students with high financial need, community college students, students with diverse ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students of non-traditional age.
For non-traditional study abroad destinations such as Western Europe and Australia.
$5,000 and more for US citizen, used for tuition and fees, room and board, books, local transportation, health insurance and international airfare.
Needed undergraduate students at a US 2-year or 4-year college or university and currently receiving the Federal Pell Grant at the time of application.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship:

More than 300 scholarships per year.
Cover tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
Renewable for students who receive it during their junior year of college.
Students involved in careers as math, science or engineering.
Needed a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be in the upper quartile of his or her class.

Intel Science Talent Search:

For high school seniors in the United States.
Selected according to their potential as future scientists and researchers.
300 students are semifinalists receiving $1,000 award.
40 students are finalists and invited to a trip to the Science Talent Institute in Washington, DC.
First place finalist receives a $100,000 four-year scholarship.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC):

The largest scholarship competitions in the United States, with more than 10,000 students receiving totalling $47 million.
For High school students entering by the PSAT test.
Top 16,000 or the highest scores are semifinalists, and about 15,000 are finalists.
Scholarship programs range from $2,500 to renewable four-year full tuition scholarships.

Presidential Scholars Program:

Recognized up to 121 high school seniors each year on the basis of academic achievement.
20 US citizen students are selected in the visual arts, performing arts or creative writing per year.

Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholarship Program::

Scholarships up to $7,500.
For undergraduate US citizen students with leadership on behalf of the cause of freedom, American values and constitutional principles.

Rotary Foundation's Ambassadorial Scholarship:

1,000 to 1,100 scholarships for study abroad per year.
For undergraduate and graduate students worldwide and at least two completed years of college.
Covers one year of academic study in another country and include round-trip transportation, tuition, fees, and room and board up to $25,000.

Morris K. Udall Foundation Undergraduates Scholarships:

80 undergraduate scholarships of up to $5,000.
For college juniors and seniors in fields related to the environment.
30 students with Honorable Mentions receiving $350.

Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship Program:

$1,000 to $10,000 scholarships.
For full-time undergraduate and graduate minority students involved in Chemistry, Information Management, Computing & Software Systems, Material Science, Printing Management Science, Laser Optics, Physics and Engineering.
Needed a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Have to be US citizens or visa-holding Permanent Residents of African American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan, or Hispanic descent.

Graduate Fellowships:

IBM PhD Fellowships:

For PhD students in business, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering, materials science, mathematics, mechanical engineering and physics, as well as a variety of emerging technical fields.
Cover tuition and fees and an annual stipend of $17,500.
Might be renewed for up to three years.
All IBM fellows are matched with an IBM Mentor and are expected to intern at an IBM research or development laboratory under their mentor's guidance.
Nomination by a faculty member is required.

NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program (GSRP):

For graduate study leading to a masters or doctoral degree in science, mathematics and engineering.
90 to 100 new recipients are selected per year.
Consist in one-year training grant of $24,000.
Renewable for up to three years.
Training includes a stipend of $18,000, student allowance of $3,000 and university allowance of $3,000.
Must be US citizenship.
Also can apply college seniors and current graduate students.

AT&T Labs Fellowships:

For females and minority students looking for a PhD in computer and communications-related fields.
Have to be US citizens or permanent residents.
Provide all educational expenses, tuition, fees, a monthly stipend of $1,400, and a mentor who is a staff member at AT&T Labs.
Renewable fellowship for up to six years of support.

Canon National Parks Science Scholars Program:

8 fellowships to PhD students throughout the Americas.
Conduct conservation-related research projects in the biological, physical, social and cultural sciences, and technological innovation in support of conservation science.
Support research on critical problems facing the region's national parks.
Provide $26,000 for up to three years.
4 honorable mentions with $1,000.

British Chevening Scholarships:

For non-UK students studying in the United Kingdom.
Offered in more than 150 countries.
2,300 new scholarships per year for postgraduate studies and research.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation:

For college seniors and recent college graduates to begin graduate study in the fall.
35 fellowships per year.
Cover tuition, room and board, books and other required fees up to $50,000 per year for up to six years.
Needed GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Have to be nominated by the faculty representative at their undergraduate institution.

Davies-Jackson Scholarship:

Support for a two-year course of study at St. John's College, Cambridge University, leading to a British B.A. degree.
Studies include Archaeology and Anthropology, Classics, Economics, English, Geography, History, History of Art, Modern and Medieval Languages, Music, Philosophy, and Social and Political Sciences.
For seniors at one of 159 eligible US colleges and universities.
Be the first college graduate in their family.
Cover tuition, fees, room and board and travel to and from England for two years.

Environmental Protection Agency's STAR Fellowship Program:

For masters and doctoral students pursuing degrees in fields of study related to the environment.
50 fellowships per year.
Masters receive support for up to two years and doctoral students receive support for up to three years.
$37,000 per year, consisting of a $20,000 stipend, $5,000 for authorized expenses, and $12,000 for tuition and fees.
Must be US citizens or permanent residents.

Fulbright Fellowships:

For US citizens to study in other countries and for international students to study in the US.
Americans apply through their campus Fulbright program.
International students apply through Fulbright Commissions.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships:

For graduate students from outside the United Kingdom for study at the University of Cambridge.
230 scholarships per year, with 100 coming from the United States.
Cover the full cost of study at Cambridge for a single person, tuition, fees and a maintenance allowance.
Be under the age of 30 years.
Be admitted through the university's regular admissions process.

Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowships:

For graduate students with expectations to have the greatest impact on the application of the physical sciences to human problems.
Cover the cost-of-education allowance and a $25,000 stipend.
Renewable for a total of up to five years of support.
Also can apply college seniors and current graduate students pursuing a PhD in the applied physical sciences.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships:

For graduate students pursuing a doctoral degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Biosciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences Computer and Computational Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Geosciences, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Oceanography and Physics.
100 to 300 new fellowships are awarded per year.
Must be US citizens or nationals.
Also can apply college seniors and first-year graduate students.
Provide full tuition, fees and a stipend of $27,500 during the first year, $28,000 during the second year, and $28,500 during the third year.

Spencer Foundation's Dissertation Fellowships for Research Related to Education:

For doctoral degree candidates at graduate schools in the United States.
Based on the improvement of education, and in pursuing a career in education research.
30 fellowships being awarded out of approximately 500 applications.

Harry S. Truman Scholarships:

For college juniors who are US citizens and nationals.
To graduate school in preparation for a career in public service.
The scholarship consists of a $26,000 grant.
Selected on the basis of their potential as future change agents who will improve the ways public entities serve the public good.
Applicant must have an extensive record of campus and community service and a nomination by their college or university.
